Late on Thursday nights downtown Asheville, you can start to hear the bass and the beats vibrating Lexington once you cross over West Walnut.

At first you will mistake it for an over zealous car stereo but soon you see the energy spilling out along with the people onto North Lexington just after the crosswalk.

And if the music doesn’t call you – the lights will. You can’t miss the strobe, blinking, bouncing, lasers – luring in you like a moth to the flame to AUX BAR – the newest bar and restaurant concept from Chef Steve Goff and Chef Mike Moore.

Phantom Pantone, an upper echelon of Asheville and the surrounding areas best DJs, is creating a nightlife scene that is quickly rivaling nearby Atlanta, Charlotte, and Nashville. They start every week as every week is a long weekend by kicking off the party every Thursday night.

It’s not just the music, the fantastic bartenders, or the food menu until 2 AM. It’s also the occasional musical super star drop in: Two Grammy Award winner and the the producer for soundtrack of ‘8 Mile’ and “New Jack City’ Bob ‘Bassy’ Brockmann snuck into Asheville and debuted Diplo and Ivan Dorn’s new track “Stay Open earlier this summer at AUX BAR. Don’t believe – see for yourself:

There has been rumor that Lady Miss Kier from 90’s band Deee-Lite (“Groove Is In the Heart”) has made an appearance. Che Mack from VH1’s “Atlanta’s Love and Hip Hop” is rumored to be dropping by to deejay before the summer is out.

It starts from the ID check at the door where they use a magic marker to draw a little red heart just behind your thumb to say you can go inside, to the outdoor patio where a film projector lights up the wall of the buildings behind it projecting 80’s slasher films, AUX BAR truly is a unique DATE NIGHT destination or for that once a month GIRL’S NIGHT OUT.

And for those who are going at it alone and ask “What is love?” like the Haddaway song – AUX BAR is a perfect spot to see and be seen.

If you missed this last Thursday night at AUX BAR, don’t worry – we got you:
