Guest Post: Beer Date in Beer City by NC Beer Guys

So you have a big date this weekend and luck is on your side because the other person likes craft beer just as much as you do.  It’s a good thing you’re in the Asheville (aka Beer City) area because there are so many places you can go to have a great time.  Our main criteria is the location has to offer local craft beer – why would you go anywhere that doesn’t have it?

Take in a beautiful view.  Your date is the most amazing thing to look at but we’re talking the overall vista.  The mountains are all around with amazing sunsets to spark the mood.  Check out The Montford Rooftop Bar.  The western-facing deck has a fantastic unobstructed view.  You can enjoy small bites with their local craft beer selections and locally sourced cocktails.  Looking for more bars with a view?  Check out 10 Asheville Bars with a View.

Another great view is offered at The Green Man Brewery’s Greenmansion.  There’s a draft bar and patio with fire pits to relax by on the first floor but take the elevator to the top to check out the large deck deck that shows off the Blue Ridge Mountains.  If your date really likes the brewing process, there’s also a fantastic view of the production floor to see the inner workings of the brewery.

Go Subterranean.  Down an alley on Patton Avenue you’ll find a large round Hobbit door.  Enter and take the stairs down two flights and you’ll find One World Brewing.  It has an intriguing speakeasy kind of an atmosphere knowing that directly above you is the bustling Farm Burger.  They brew beer styles from around the world and have ten taps going all the time so it’s easy to find one or more beers that will appeal to both of you.

It’s Pizza Night!  Sometimes a nice pizza is what it takes to spark a great night.  A nice walk down Biltmore Avenue offers window shopping and galleries.  Stop in at Barley’s Taproom and Pizzeria for excellent pizza and a HUGE selection of craft beer.  Be sure to check out the beer menus on both floors because just when you thought they had a lot, there’s more upstairs!

Of course, you could always head to the South Slope and enjoy pizza and beer at a brewery – Asheville Brewing Company.  A fun atmosphere with wild pizzas, award-winning pub food and crazy good beer.  This time of the year, it’s highly recommended you take advantage of the seasonal offering of Ninjabread Man Spiced Holiday Porter – it’s the holiday season in a beer and you don’t want to miss it.

A Cider a Day.  How about a little alternative to craft beer – cider!  The Urban Orchard Cider Co. is a fascinating option that delivers elements of beer and wine but with apples.  A comfortable atmosphere to settle into, they offer hopped ciders, ones that are lagered, fruity and spicy ones plus if you prefer dry or sweet, they’ve got you covered.

Of course, if both parties on the date truly love breweries, then there’s no better place than a short ride to Sierra Nevada Brewing.  Entering the grounds of the facility is jaw-dropping and it only gets better when you go inside.  What a great way to share an amazing experience and really enjoy a date to remember with a nice dinner, a brewery tour to end all brewery tours, and a casual stroll around the highly sustainable property.  Want more tour ideas?  Check out 5 Asheville Tours Locals Love
