Low-Waste Restaurant with Modern Bohemian Flair: The Greenhouse

Noble Cider has open the doors to their new restaurant, The Greenhouse! This sustainable slow-food eatery is making it known that they are working hard to minimize waste, source local foods and stay close to what they are known for, apples!

Right away, when you walk through the front door or walk towards the restaurant on a sunny day, you immediately feel a vibe that puts a smile on your face and excites your palate.

The Vibe

With bold green foliage, bohemian decor and memorable design, you will realize, this is unlike any other restaurant in Asheville. The friendly staff is prepared to share the creative and allergen-friendly menu and a list of divine beverages, including mouth-watering cocktails and signature Noble ciders. The Clementine Session Mead is a personal favorite of mine.

The Eats

Whether you are looking for starters, plates or platters to share, the menu will have you salivating instantly. During our visit, we dove mouth first into gnocchi with delicious crunchy Brussel sprouts and a Chinese bbq glaze I could have licked off the plate. The lentil pie lastest only a few moments before the red wine braised veggies were in our bellies. the smoke-roasted brisket had us hooked, with its pastrami crust and potato piccalilli (I’m drooling right now just remembering it). The striped bass was, as the staff put it, was a “Kodak moment”. We spent a great deal of time admiring it before we dove into the smooth fish served with preserved lemons and summer squash.

Family-Style dining with the Striped Sea Bass board.
Wheat Gnocchi. Fried Brussel Sprouts. Chinese BBQ Glaze. (GF option)

Be sure to leave room for dessert, because all the options are must tries! You’ll never believe how healthy the raw cheesecake is, loaded with saffron, pistachios, and cardamon. If you had to choose just one, the Pavlova will be sure to silent your table or allow for only delicious moans as the coconut meringue melts in your mouth and allows the strawberry rhubarb flavors to explode like fireworks on your palate. Where will executive chef, Gavin Baker, take our taste buds next?

Rhubarb & Strawberry Pavlova (GF). Cucumber & Yuzu. Coconut Meringue. Mascarpone Cheese.
Chocolate Treacle Tart. Warmed Vegetarian Suet Pastry. Charcoal Salt & Pecan Crumble. Lime Whip.

The Drinks

Apart from being environmentally conscious, cozy as ever and delicious, The Greenhouse has a killer bar. They not only serve their signature ciders, but you will find mead, local beers and a fun cocktail menu. Check out what’s on tap and be sure to try the Greenhouse Bamboo.

The Greenhouse is the best setting for any dining experience. Words can’t even describe how wonderful every moment of being there was, therefore, instead of taking our word for it, why don’t you book a reservation or grab a seat at their bar before the line is out the door at Asheville’s newest downtown restaurant?
