What could possibly be better than this slogan; Sign Up, Show Up, Sip Up, Paint! At Wine and Design in South Asheville, you will find easy parking, local brews, and incredible fun. Whether you are looking for a date night out with your loved one, a new activity for you and your gal pals, or a way to entertain the kids when they are out of school, Wine and Design Asheville has you covered!

What we love most about a sip & paint date night is that no one is required to be an artist or even a creative person in order to sign up. Wine & Design classes are actually perfect for those who want to brush up on their art skills. What’s the worst thing that can happen? Maybe you will find yourself so inspired that you continue painting or drawing for enjoyment on your own time.

What a Class Looks Like

After opening their doors just a few weeks ago, co-owner of the Asheville location, Kristen Steiner invited us to join for a paint night. When we arrived, Kristen signed us in, and invited us to purchase a “sip” from her cooler of local drinks! Not only does she have a great list of wines to choose from, of course, but she also stockpiled local brews from Archetype Brewing to Ginger’s Revenge Craft Brewing, the selection screamed Asheville. Kristen shared, in the coming months she expects to have wines from local wineries, more local drinks and locally made snacks available for painters.

We cracked open a Lime Agave Ginger’s Revenge and found our seats. Each spot was already prepared with paint, brushes, a water glass, paper towel, apron, and our canvas. What stood out to us about this class compared to others we have done in the past was that there were outlines drawn on the canvas in pencil. Let’s talk about that massive confidence booster!!

Tapping into our own vision was all we needed to polish off this piece of artwork because we quickly realized that we had free range to create and that this process allowed each of us to uniquely design our own masterpiece. As amateur painters, the stenciled canvas paved the way for us to become more creative visionaries and we couldn’t be more proud of our snazzy giraffes!

With a group chosen mo-town playlist and strangers that quickly became friends, laughter filled the air as we followed along with Kristen and created what at first felt like aliens. As the paintings came together, we walked around the room, admiring the unique touches each of us brought to their paintings. Some of us stayed right on the same color palette as the sample, while some explore other hues. One painter when all out, bringing more natural giraffe browns onto her canvas.

Make New Friends

Since the paint dries quickly, as soon as we put in our final details, we took a group photo and hoped on to our next adventure. With Hillman Beer right next door and Biltmore Village less than a mile away, there are plenty of local choices to keep the party going.

Upcoming Classes

Now, you’ve seen how fun and easy they make it, so how to sign up? Wine and Design Asheville plan their schedule months in advance! This means you can scroll through all their various paintings and find the one that speaks most to you! Whether it’s the ‘No Problem Llama’ or ‘Kiddo Picasso Potato’, there is a painting for everyone. We personally cannot wait for their Paint Your Pet Night on August 4th!

Prices of classes vary on the canvas size and class type. The class we took was $37.00, yet kid classes and smaller canvas are $27. Special classes like Paint Your Pet or their Chunky Blanket Workshop will vary in price.

Paint it Forward

Here at Asheville Date Night, we love giving back to our local community.
