First dates can have so much pressure attached to them, especially if you’re the one doing the planning. Impress without seeming desperate, right? The perfect solution is to take your date to one of Asheville’s newest offerings. With so many new restaurants, breweries, tours, and activities to choose from, you’re bound to find something fun and exciting to explore in Asheville for a first date.
Daidala Ciders
The ciders in Asheville are hard to beat and the new kid on the block is Daidala Ciders in the River Arts District appropriately tucked away on the second floor of an art studio known as The Historic Cotton Mill Studios located on Riverside Drive. Nothing takes the pressure off of a first date like an art stroll and sharing a bottle of cider. Bonus round – you discover so much about a person when you do an art stroll.

Simple Cafe & Juice Bar
Keep it simple. The perfect location for a healthy first date is at Simple Cafe & Juice Bar conveniently located in West Asheville across from the old Lucky Otter spot. Some of my favorite first dates have happened in the afternoon or during lunchtime. Somehow it’s just less stressful and more laid back. At Simple, you can make it a juice date ‘to-go’, followed up by a walk down Haywood Road to observe all the wonderful corkiness West Asheville expresses. Or go all out for a delicious lunch date perfect on a sunny Saturday before a hike.

Henrietta’s Poultry Shoppe
For those who haven’t heard the good news – White Duck Taco Shop has expanded its brand genius to the opening of Henrietta’s Poultry Shoppe. The River Arts District is killin it with the first date locations and the setting at Henrietta’s is cozy, intimate and basically delicious! My recommendation? Share one of their incredible sammies, a few sides, and two stubborn mules. The stubborn mule is made with Ginger’s Revenge Beer (of course), bourbon, Henrietta’s spice blend then shaken to perfection. Don’t be stubborn about this first date!

Haywood Country Club
Beer or cocktails and food on a first date is a no brainer for many people and Haywood Country Club is a great new way to start. Also conveniently located in the middle of West Asheville, HCC has great parking and is a wonderful new space to try something new. Food Truck grub and beer is always a homerun date night!

High Test Deli & Sweet Shop
With no shortage of breweries in Asheville, it’s always fun to discover new ways to experience one of the oldie but goodies. Take Twin Leaf Brewing, for example, a sweet new little sandwich deli has opened up literally arm’s length away called High Test Deli & Sweet Shop and it’s a tasty addition to the south slope brewery scene. Next time you find yourself sipping beer on the south slope, stop in for a quick bite!

All Day Darling
This first date option can happen All Day Darling! Whether you’re looking for a place to have a brunch date, an afternoon coffee and pastry or an evening bite All Day Darling is the perfect spot. For those who miss Tod’s Tastie’s – no worries, it’s basically the same menu plus more. The parking is stellar and the atmosphere is refreshing. An easy pick for a first date in downtown Asheville on Montford Avenue.
