There’s a new way to get away that has popped up right on the river for everyone to enjoy. The Getaway Tiki Bar, formerly known as Ole Shakey’s, has transformed into a refreshing one of a kind dive bar, escaping the mundane. It truly is a place where your imagination can run wild.
With new Adirondack chairs, a refreshing tiki cocktail menu, fireside enjoyment in a dive bar setting, The Getaway Tiki Bar strives to take Asheville riverside enjoyment to a whole new level. Imagine an ‘out of the way in a good way’ kind of place to mingle with friends, meet new locals, kindle old friendships all while kicking back, relaxing and forgetting the heaviness of daily life.

What’s the newest feature found at The Getaway Tiki Bar? The carefully crafted island-inspired tiki cocktails! Their incredibly creative bartenders have really put their minds together to bring your drinks that will truly transport you, while still of course being at a dive bar.
Some of our favorites? Well, for starters, nothing speaks island more than a rum drink so “The Getaway” cocktail is one of our favorites. It’s your traditional Caribbean inspired drink made with dark rum, Cynar (an Italian bitters), and freshly squeezed lime juice.
Next up, Mai Gai, (pronounced ‘my guy’) is with rum, shaken with lime and pecan syrup. We love this drink because of its southern pecan twist which makes it even more special.

Freaky “Turntable” Tuesday
Every Tuesday it’s burgers, bourbon, and beats at The Getaway. Old vinyl is brought out for you to move and shake to your favorite tunes. The Freaky Tuesday food and drink specials are brought to you by Sovereign Remedies. Burgers and bourbon are offered while you chill and mingle.

Find yourself downtown on a Tuesday in the mood for an American-Chinese inspired menu and tiki cocktails? Look no further than Sovereign Remedies!
Every Tuesday, 5-10pm, the head mixologist at The Getaway Bar, Eddie Spaghetti, will take over at Sovereign offering up his island tiki cocktails to go alongside a mighty delicious Asian-influenced pop-up menu. A great way to satisfy those cravings of western flavors and knock out those dreams of flying to the Caribbean.
